EastLake Community Church is a growing body of believers located at Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, VA.  Birthed in 2006, we have always understood that a new facility was essential to our continued growth.  We have also understood that ministry is not just about buildings.  We believe that buildings and “stuff” are merely tools to reach the world with the transformational Gospel of Christ.  Noah is a good example of that!

Presently, our 125 seat worship center is being used three times on Sunday morning to allow more than 250 people to experience God in corporate worship.  Our children’s worship center is located in a separate building next door, our youth worship center is located further down the street, and we hold Sunday school classes in another building even further away.  And to top it all off, You need a search warrent to find a parking spot! (not really, but almost).

Recently, after realizing that building a new facility the size that we need was not going to be the solution, and after our “courtship” with a nearly completed 22,000 sq. ft. shopping center at Sunset Cay came to an end, God opened the door for us to purchase 21,000 sq. ft. in two buildings.  The main building originally was built as a Shoprite grocery store.  It was most recently used as a flea market/antique mall..  After weeks of demolition work done by our own volunteers we closed on the property on July 2, received our building permit on July 16, and officially began reconstruction on July 19.  Since then our contractors have been making quick work of shaping the main building into a lovely, updated, 250 seat worship center.

This page is designed to give you a daily glimpse into the transformation of what once was a place where people came to buy frozen foods or mismatched window shutters into a house of worship where God will be glorified and spiritual food will be dished out.  It is a physical illustration of the work God does in every surrendered life.  It’s the story of transformation.  It’s the story of a facility that will help EastLake Community church more effectively reach the lost around SML.  It’s the story of our next step in building God’s kingdom.
